This was a must see for me as it is in so many movies (I'm thinking Breakfast at Tiffanys and more recently the SATC wedding). The building is fabulous and best of all it is free to enter. It's right by Bryant Park (a nice place to sit) and the Kinokuniya Japanese bookstore, a bookstore that is not only fabulous in the range of Japanese books but also has a toilet and Japanese cafe - what more can a tourist ask for? The library doesn't open until 11am so plenty of time to have breakfast first.
This place also felt kind of homey to me, I think partly because it reminds me of Oxford, and of being a little kid running about places like this. I like that wood polish smell :)
beautiful!!

It does have a very Ashmolean look about it! The colours and shades of your photos show just what you mean! How nice to make Oxford comparisons :)

I saw no ghosts but ate a lot of good food :D Although being vege meant I avoided the mountains of pastrami which was a good thing. I will need to write more about that too at some point. At the moment I am feeling very photo-ish but will hopefully come up with coherent things to say about it all too at some point.

great photos. did you use your boyfriend as a tripod for these shots or something because i see no camera shake, and i suspect it was rather dark in the building!?
