I saw a couple of interesting looking tutorials out there so I gave them a go. There is so much holiday inspiration flying around at the moment!
I really like the idea of these jaunty little mushrooms attached with wire to tree branches. Instructions here. I am not so good at teeny tiny hand sewing but I think it came out ok! Smaller pins would have been handy.
I also had a go at these fabric birds. Instructions here. They remind me a little of the birds from Last-minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts, a book I have been meaning to buy for ages. I attached ribbon through a hole I made in the top so I could hang it on the tree.
The fabric was a lovely extra gift with a lovely water bottle giveaway I won (yay!) from Yvestown. The original birds in the pattern didn't have eyes but Simon thought it should so I gave it sequin eyes :) Mine came out a little bit lumpy but next time I am sure I will be able to do it a little smoother. The pattern was very easy to understand and do.
