Yesterday I also made some table mats, and I tested them out at breakfast today. We use table mats everyday and I thought we could do with some variety. They are quite simply some cotton with a layer of padding.
My breakfast was steel cut oats with honey banana and almonds. I think I really do prefer jumbo oats. The steel cut oats have such a pretty tin though:
I am looking forward getting through these oats so I can use the tin as a plant pot.
Cute tablemats! I love steel cut oats, and the tin's fun. Not sure what I'll do with mine after the oats are gone...probably fill it with more oats from the food coop.

oh my! too funny. I bought the exactly same tin a year ago just because i loved the tin. I am just starting to cook them regularly on sunday mornings (when i actually have time to cook those oats) with the hope of using up the oats soon so i can use the tin for my craft supplies!

I really love the fabric you used. I keep meaning to make place mats for our table but I just can't settle on a fabric.

i eat those everyday and love them...got about 35,000 of those tins (exaggeration, but i have quite a few)...good idea on how to "recycle" them!
