outskirts and TV

 

This evening we went to see the Star Trek movie at the multiplex cinema. It is next to the city football stadium. I took this picture as we were going in. I really enjoyed the film. I grew up in a household without TV and I have not so far ever gone back to watch the original Star Trek series, although I have watched some of the other series, but I still thought the film was cool :)

Thinking about this just now has made me remember the TV that I made an effort to see once I did have a TV so that I would know what everyone was on about! Star Trek, Simpsons, and X-Files really spring to mind. I guess I have had a TV from about 2000? For the first couple of years I went crazy and watched LOADS of TV but now I can't stand it and only watch a handful of shows, currently that is Entourage, Great British Menu, and The Apprentice.

It is my first year with a fig tree. I bought it because I like the big leaves that are like hands but now it is fruiting which is pretty exciting :)

My dad and I went into his attic to look for his old camera equipment. Look at all this!! He is sure there are other cameras somewhere else too. I think a lot of these originally came to him from one of his good friends who was a professional food and advertising photographer in Japan and would pass on equipment when he was finished with it.

This camera I have used before, I think it may not work any more. I remember it leaking light and ruining a whole role of film that I had gotten up at 4am to go and shoot.

This is apparently a special lens for taking pictures of architecture.

No idea what this is :)

It is interesting to see all the different lenses. They won't work with my Canon, I do have two other lenses that fit my Canon, one came from Simon's father. I haven't fully got to grips with them as yet which is something I would like to work on.

Sunday Morning

I took this picture early this morning when I was outside sweeping. The broom I inherited from my grandmother. Yesterday I planted out my tomato plants, courgettes, dahlias, and some climbing French beans that I got from my friend John. I collected them from his allotment. It is quite a tempting idea to get an allotment, however it is a lot of work and at the moment I feel I have enough to be doing in our own garden, maybe another year :)

Raspberries & Entourage

I remembered today that I hadn't finished going through the pictures that I got developed from my last roll of film that I took with my Yashica. Recently I got a good deal on film by buying twelve rolls so it should be part of my general picture taking for a while. It gets a bit of a drag carrying about multiple cameras though!

It has been a relaxing Bank Holiday weekend here, I have been catching up on various things, watching films, reading and pottering about. Both mine and Simon's favourite TV show at the moment is Entourage, we are half way through watching series 4, we get sent the DVDs of the series from our Lovefilm account. It is a really funny quality show. I am so glad they are making a 6th series.
